What changes when we constrain how a chip forms?

My contribution
At the Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing Processes, I investigate large-strain plastic deformation through machining, tribology, stress–strain analysis, and microscopy.
My constrained-cutting poster focuses on literature review, interpretation of published figures, lab observation, and discussions with my mentor. I compared free cutting with constrained conditions using chip thickness ratio, DIC strain fields, force plots, and surface-finish results.
The reviewed study found controlled simple-shear flow near a chip thickness ratio of 1.6, while stronger constraint caused complex extrusion. These are findings from the referenced study, not measurements I independently generated. My next steps are to develop DIC and MATLAB/Python analysis skills and compare experiments with finite element models.
